Poor values embodied in our corporate and economic system have led us down a destructive path where profits outweigh quality, sustainability, our health, and our planet.
When you think about it, it is inconceivable that we have ended up living in a world where companies and entire industries are allowed to profit (with incredible margins) at the expense of the health and well-being of the general population. Even despite the knowledge we now have, ingredients identified as harmful, causing cancer, congenital disabilities, and other serious health complications, products are still allowed to be sold without warning or recall.
Just a few weeks ago, one of the most well-known and widely used products we know of – Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder – lost a lawsuit for $72 Million because their product was causing cancer and death to expect mothers. Yet the product is still being sold in department and grocery stores worldwide!
What kind of mad world do we live in where this can happen?
This is just one small example of a massive sea of destructive products and ingredients. So why ignore the endless ingredient list that we cannot pronounce and use these products?
There is a glimmer of hope and a push for transparency and better standards; millennials are increasingly demanding when it comes to healthy, organic products that do not harm people, animals, and our planet. We like to think there is a new health paradigm.
Kapuluan is proud to offer a product that is not only all organic and pure but comes from a natural product that grows on trees. It can also be used for many different things regarding beauty or personal care routines.
Our Mantra is:
If you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin.
Over the next few weeks, we will look at toxic ingredients in beauty products, outing some ingredients that can no longer be ignored if health and long life mean something.
