We spend a lot of time on tropical islands, and although beautiful, crystal blue water lined with endless coconut palm trees, there are many challenges here.

If you aren’t prepared or don’t know how to deal with the harsh climate, these places can eat you alive.

DIY All Natural Mosquito Repellent

One of the most dangerous (and annoying) things is always the mosquito, especially during rainy seasons and when near the water.

But what is just as dangerous as mosquitos? Using chemical-filled insect repellants and DEET on your body. Or being near someone who is using them. Ever sat at a restaurant and had someone pull out the insect repellant? It doesn’t take long before you can smell, taste, and have your appetite (and your health) ruined. So don’t be the person ruining all the meals and the health of the people around you!

But it can be hard to find an all-natural insect repellent that works. So, we like to make our own. This natural mosquito repellent is super easy and only requires a few key ingredients, all of which are easy to find.

Here is how we do it:

Ingredients

Kapuluan Coconut Oil

Essential Oils

  • Lemon
  • Eucalyptus
  • Cedarwood
  • Rosemary

Directions

1. Get a 4oz glass spray bottle.

2. Fill 3/4 with coconut oil.

3. Add essential oils. Use approximately 100 drops. Recommended: 40 Lemon, 25 Eucalyptus, 20, Cedarwood, 15 Rosemary.

4. Shake before each use.

5. Apply to skin.

Aside from being a natural mosquito repellent, it is also an excellent moisturizer and smells great!

***Do not use it on the skin if in the sun. Lemon essential oil increases the skin’s sensitivity to the sun.
