Bohol Beach Clean Up Success

Last Updated on June 1, 2023 by Kapuluan

On November 19, 2016, we partnered with @plasticfree_bohol to organize a Bohol beach clean-up in Panglao Beach, Philippines. We’re happy to report that it was a great success!

With just over 20 volunteers, there were a total of 22 sacks collected that weighed around 50 kilos! It’s incredible what an impact you can make for your local community beaches when you work together. During the clean-up, we noted what kind of trash was found…

Most common trash:

  1. Styrofoam
  2. Plastic bottles
  3. Plastic bottle caps
  4. Plastic bags
  5. Plastic food/junk food wrappers

Other trash:

  • Plastic eating utensils
  • Plastic straws
  • Ghost nets
  • Paint cans
  • Paint rollers
  • Diapers
  • Napkins and panty liners
  • Shoes and flip flops
  • Underwear
  • Jeans and shirts
  • Tin cans
  • Urine bag (most interesting trash)
  • Syringe needle
  • Medicine bottles
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Cotton swab sticks
  • Alcohol bottles

Every city in the world is different, but the trash we find on beaches around the globe is the same and pollutes this earth, affecting the animals in it.

Please always throw away trash and use reusable products instead of plastics if possible.

Now that we’ve seen the Bohol beach clean-up success, we’d love to find more volunteers to host a beach clean-up in your local city. It can be anywhere worldwide; all you need to do is show up to gather the volunteers, and we’ll help you organize the rest!

YOU can truly make a difference.

Thank you to all of our volunteers in the Philippines!
